2013 Research Awards Program

Research is integral to the work of the American Liver Foundation (ALF) and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and is essential to improving treatment and finding a cure for liver disease.

Since 1979, the Research Awards Program has provided more than $25 million in research funding. Over 750 qualified scientists and physicians have pursued careers in liver disease research and treatment as a result of receiving these grants early in their careers.

In 2012, the American Liver Foundation announced the recipients of the 2012 Research Awards Program. Fifteen scientists representing fifteen medical and research institutions were awarded $1,250,000 to support their research in the areas of hepatitis C, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, primary biliary cirrhosis, liver regeneration, alcoholic liver disease, autoimmune hepatitis and hepatitis A.

The American Liver Foundation is proud to support these research efforts and is hopeful that they will bring us closer to finding a cure for liver disease.
