Executive Director

LOCATION
Nashville, Tennessee


PRIMARY FUNCTION/PURPOSE

  • Identify and increase education programs, including community outreach and promotional activities.

  • Identify and expand leadership and volunteer bases;

  • Develop and implement awareness of liver diseases and ALF;

  • Raise funds to fund operations and to support the ALF’s mission and strategic goals;

  • Manage and maintain accountability of chapter operations

  • Supports chapter efforts in recruiting new leaders and volunteers and the orientation of all leaders and volunteers.

  • Provides necessary support to increase fundraising through organizing special events, identifying and upgrading individual giving, and actively recruiting new groups and community resources directed at development efforts.

  • Identifies potential underwriters or sponsors for chapter activities.

  • In conjunction with the National Office, participates in national programs, where applicable.

  • Reports to an identified National Office supervisor on a regular basis and utilizes financial reports as well as other tools regarding chapter progress, professional achievements and leadership updates. A quarterly activity report will be submitted to the National Office.

  • Represents ALF at designated functions as a staff member of ALF.

  • Attends conferences, meetings and any other special meetings as required.

  • Is knowledgeable about the mission and strategic goals of the American Liver Foundation and has a lay understanding about liver diseases.

  • Upholds the bylaws and policies of ALF.

  • Performs all other chapter office duties and related tasks, as required, in the fulfillment of responsibilities, in order to support local programs, services and activities


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related experience required.

Experience: Previous experience with fundraising activities.

Related Skills or Knowledge:

  • Planning, budgeting, management and computer skills;

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written);

  • Ability to organize relevant chapter activities and to adhere to deadlines;

  • Ability to work cooperatively with chapter volunteers and outside resources;

  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing American Liver Foundation activities and practices. Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the American Liver Foundation;

  • Understand the significance and role of the American Liver Foundation both at the local and National level; Ability to understand and set realistic goals. Realistic scheduling and adherence to deadlines. Knowledge and understanding of the constituencies and the service area. Integrity, creativity, intellectual curiosity, high standards, persistence, and achievement oriented.

Work Environment: Must be willing to travel and work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends.
