The American Liver Foundation (ALF) announced Hillel Tobias, MD, has been elected to the Board of Directors.
In making the announcement Donna Cryer, Chair of the American Liver Foundation said, “These are exciting times for the Foundation as we work together to advance our mission. To ensure our success for the benefit of people with liver disease, we continue to engage the best and brightest volunteers and staff leadership available. We are delighted to welcome Dr. Tobias to our team.”
Hillel Tobias, MD, PhD is Clinical Professor of Medicine at New York University School of Medicine and Medical Director of the Liver Transplant Service at the New York University Langone Medical Center. Dr. Tobias has a long history in both clinical and research aspects of liver disease starting his studies at the Royal Free Hospital in London. He has conducted research on the effect alcohol on the body lipids and development of fatty liver disease. Dr. Tobias served an NIH fellow and at Mt. Sinai Hospital he studied the natural history of hepatitis in the East Harlem drug addict community.
Dr. Tobias has served as Medical Director of the Liver Transplant Service since its inception at New York University School of Medicine.
