Liver Symposium - Patient/General Public Sessions

The program will open with a keynote speaker followed by a series of lectures presented by leading experts in liver disease. The program will also provide an opportunity for liver disease patients to participate in open discussions and question and answer sessions with top medical professionals.

Session 1: Liver 101 - Dr. Veronica Loy, Loyola University Medical Center

Functions, preventative care, diet and medication and your liver. Get to know the second largest organ in your body and build on your current knowledge.

Session 2: A Look at Hepatitis C - Dr. Charmaine Stewart, Univerity of Illinois

Identifying risk factors, transmission, and the progression of this disease. Understanding different genotypes and what that means for patients.

Session 3: The New Landscape of HCV Treatment - Dr. Kenneth O'Riordan, Lakeshore Gastroenterology

We will discuss navigating the new world of HCV treatment, how to talk to your doctor about your options, and what the future holds for access to new therapies.

Session 4: Physician Roundtable Q&A

Small-group Q&A sessions with top physicians on the American Liver Foundation Great Lakes Division's Medical Advisory Committee.
