The American Liver Foundation was one of several organizations that participated in a 2014 Liver Capitol Hill Day on March 26, 2014 in Washington D. C.
The Greater New York Division of the American Liver Foundation was proud to be represented by Gina Pollichino, Board Chair; Paul Bolter, Community Outreach and Education Manager; and Lisa Gallipoli, Executive Director. They were joined on visits to the New York Congressional Delegation by Dr. George Abdelsayed of NSLIJ-Staten Island University Hospital as well as national board members Allan Doerr (NJ) and Michael Kerr (NY).
The participants met with their federal representatives and staffers to discuss key issues to advance the cause for all liver diseases. They asked for support of adequate funding for liver research and services, support of the Viral Hepatitis Testing Act of 2013 and advocated to ensure patients' access to quality medical care.
The 2014 Liver Capitol Hill Day was sponsored by the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD).
