The American Liver Foundation, Hawai'i Chapter's 2008 fundraising gala will feature island music legend Keali'i Reichel, a long-time supporter of the Hawai'i Chapter.

“We’re thrilled to have Keali`i perform at our fundraising event,” said Janice Nillias, American Liver Foundation, Hawai`i Chapter executive director. He truly understands our core message: Your liver is your life; you can’t live without your liver.”

About Dr. Wong

Dr. Wong is currently with Surgical Associates, Inc., where she started the liver transplant program in 1993 and performed the first liver transplant in that year. Her dedication to Hawaii's liver patients has been a gift of life and hope to more than 100 patients, families, and loved ones whose lives have been affected by liver disease. In addition to liver transplants, Dr. Wong also specializes in hepatobiliary surgery, kidney transplants, bone marrow transplants, and also performs many complex general surgery procedures.

As a Professor of Surgery for the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine, she is involved in many research projects, writing of scientific papers, and teaching surgical residents. She was also named to the list of 2006 Best Doctors by Honolulu Magazine.

Dr. Wong was instrumental in starting the Hawai'i Chapter of the American Liver Foundation, serves on the chapter's board of directors and medical advisory committee, and provides valuable chapter development and program input.
