The Hawai'i Chapter recently conducted a successful test-run of "Get Hip. Stay Hep Free," a new program targeted at high school students based on materials from the American Liver Foundation's THINK B, Liver Wellness, and Diet & Your Liver program toolkits. Pre- and post- tests showed the knowledge of liver health facts increased by 25 percent among the 60 high school students in three health classes who participated in the program.

In August, the Hawai'i Department of Education will host a nationwide health education conference at which the Hawai'i Chapter will have an opportunity to share about the hepatitis B awareness program with public high school teachers from Hawai'i and other states, and plans are now being made to return to the school, by popular request, and visit more schools in the fall.
