Do you know patients and caregivers whose lives have been affected by recurrences of hepatic encephalopathy (HE)? This chronic and debilitating condition afflicts an increasing number of patients, yet there is little disease information and advocacy available for patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers.
That is, until now. We are filming a documentary that will show what it’s like for patients and their caregivers to live with this unpredictable disease. But we need your help in order to tell their stories.
If you know a patient or caregiver who might be interested in talking about what it’s like to live with HE, please pass along my information and encourage him or her to contact me as soon as possible. An honorarium will be provided to compensate them for taking time out to tell their stories.
With your help and their stories, we can shed light on the issue of HE, and ensure better understanding and management of the condition in the future.

The American Liver Foundation invites you to participateinthe second of a four-part series of live webinars on hepatic encephalopathy (HE) to be held Wednesday, April 23, 2014. The program, Diagnosing and Treating HE: A Physician’s Perspective, isdesigned for patients and caregivers who need a better grasp of this complicated condition or want a clearer understanding about a specific HE-related issue.
HE is most often seen in people with chronic liver disease. It’s a major complication of cirrhosis – whether caused by viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease or long-term alcohol use. Learn about this complicated condition from a nationally-known expert in the field, Dr. Kimberly Brown. As Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Henry Ford Hospital, Dr. Brown manages patients with complex liver disease both before and after liver transplantation. She will cover everything from triggers, symptoms and diagnosis of HE to treatment options and lifestyle adjustments. She will be available for a live question and answer session following her presentation.
The webinar will be held at 8:00 PM and 10:30 PM to accommodate both East and West coast participants. To register simply click the link below for the session you would like to register for:
