Did you know that your liver processes what you eat and drink into energy and nutrients your body can use? While it is normal for the liver to contain some fat, the build of extra fat in liver cells may cause the liver to swell. A swollen liver can lead to scarring (cirrhosis) over time and may result in liver cancer or liver failure*.

Join us in our office on Thursday, August 31st from 6:30-8:00 p.m. to hear Isabel Zacharias, MD discuss Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease.

Dr. Zacharias is the New England Division's newest member on our Medical Advisory Committee. She attended Tufts University School of Medicine and completed both her residency and fellowship at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Zacharias currently practices at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, MA. Her specialities include gastroenterology and transplant hepatology with clinical interest in cirrhosis, hepatology, and liver transplantation.

If you are interested in attending this lecture, please RSVP to Lindsay Ventura via phone (617) 527-5600 or e-mail lventura@liverfoundation.org
