Flavors of Boston, a culinary experience and fundraiser hosted by the American Liver Foundation New England Division raised over $80,000.
On Tuesday, September 13th, 2011, 200 guest walked the red carpet into a transformed Royale (Tremont Street, Boston, MA) where they were going to enjoy a five-course meal prepared table-side by chefs from the area.
Participating chefs included David Becker of Sweet Basil, Stephen Brown of Davio's, Jonathan Dunn of Lavishly Dunn, Mark Ellis of The Chef's Table, Dave Galbraith of Galbraith Gourmet Events, Matthew Gaudet of Aquitaine, Mark Haley of Above & Beyond Catering, Bernard Kinsella of Bernard Kinsella Catering, Scott Levine and Suzanne McNitt-Murphy of Rita's Catering, Shane O'Neill of The Catered Affair, and Lydia Shire of Towne Stove and Spirits.
Emceed by Matt Noyes and Danielle Niles, both meteorologists from New England Cable News (NECN), the program for the evening included an award presentation to Dr. Irwin M. Arias for his research and work in the liver disease field by Guest of Honor, Mayor Thomas Menino; live and silent auctions; a Fund-A-Grant program to provide guests an opportunity to directly support the mission; and the premiere of "Faces of ALF." "Faces of ALF" is a documentary conceived, filmed and produced by the American Liver Foundation New England Division and Nabil Aidoud of fiVi.com and was created to honor those individuals currently living with liver disease and to remember those individuals who have lost their battles.
The evening was a success, raising over $80,000 for the cause. Photos of the event are on the ALF New England Facebook page. Planning is underway for the Flavors of Boston 2012 event.
