American Liver Foundation Honors Ernie Boch Jr. on May 31

WHO: The American Liver Foundation New England Chapter (ALF) and Ernie Boch Jr., President and CEO of Boch Enterprises present a Noteworthy Cause gala and musical evening.

WHAT: ALF honors Ernie Boch Jr. for his outstanding achievements in community service in New England. A Noteworthy Cause brings together many famous musicians, liver disease specialists, patients and supporters of ALF to raise funds for liver disease research, education and advocacy in the New England area.

WHEN: The event will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 31 with a cocktail reception. Dinner and musical performances will commence at 7 p.m. Greg Hill of WAAF-FM will emcee the event and Pat Purcell, owner of The Boston Herald, will present Ernie Boch Jr. with the Progress & Promise Award.

WHY: The gala is a culmination of events surrounding Hepatitis Awareness Month. There are over 110,000 citizens of Massachusetts infected with hepatitis C. The incidence amongst teens and young adults has tripled over the last 4 years.

“This musical tribute to Ernie Boch Jr. is a way to express hope for New England area patients and their families who struggle daily with liver disease,” explains Kelly Beckett, Executive Director of the Chapter. “Money raised tonight will go directly to funding valuable educational programs, advocacy and support services in this region,” Beckett explains.

Over 250 doctors, patients and supporters of the American Liver Foundation will attend the event. The ALF New England Chapter raises money annually to fund critical research, education and advocacy programs. There are more than 30 million Americans affected by over 100 types of liver disease including pediatric biliary atresia, liver cancer, autoimmune hepatitis and hepatitis B and C.
