DESCRIPTION: 1.5-mile swim ~ 2.5-mile run ~ 13-mile bike ~ 10K run
Start wth the 1.5-mile "Escape" swim course from Alcatraz Island (This is the same swim that the Anglin Brothers and Frank Lee Morris successfully attemped in their escape from Alcatraz on the night of June, 12 1962.) with a finsh at Aquatic Park.
Get ready to exit the bay and thaw for the bike with a 2.5-mile run to the transition area at Crissy Field in the Presidio. The next leg of the escape is the 13-mile bike ride. This is a hilly, triple-loop course through the Presidio - starting and finishing at the west end of Crissy Field. The bike course will be closed to car traffic. The final 10K run will take you through Golden Gate National Recreation Area and across Baker Beach, and up the infamous Sand Ladder! Throughout the course, enjoy stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, the San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco skyline. Celebrate your accomplishment with a post event beach soiree.
