Fantastic presentation and interesting flavors were served at this year's Flavors of Portland. The chefs were excited to present their best dishes to their patrons and they cooked up their favorite recipes for the evening.
The chefs had a great time cooking together in the kitchen and were busy serving and explaining their creations to the guests. All of this buzz was topped off by a great live auction.
Very impressive dishes were served that night, including the seared pheasant breast with local wild mushrooms prepared by chef Michael Barshis (University Club), the roasted halibut with horseradish, green beans and shallots by chef Marco Shaw (Fife), or the seared squab breast with a pomegranate glaze and candied carrots by chef Scott Guynn (Mint).

The desserts were equally outstanding. Guests savored chef Michael Molitor and Andrew Martin’s (Pazzo) fried Maryhill peach crespella, basil and honey gelato, chef Ray Delgado’s (Hudson’s Bar & Grill) passion fruit mousse with raspberry coulis and chef Tom Dunklin’s (Red Star Tavern) “Caramel Corn” souffle.
At the end of the evening over $60,000 was raised for liver disease research, education and advocacy.
The highlight of the live auction was a Luxurious Week in Bali with Scuba Diving and Massages for 2. Apa Kabar Villas are located on the tranquil eastern coast of the magical island of Bali. This area of Bali, known as Amed, is famous for outstanding diving, snorkeling, hiking, and a very relaxed ambiance. The area has amazing natural beauty and the people are extremely open and friendly.
Bidding heated up as everyone in the room wanted a vacation in the fabulous villa. When the bidding reached $1,900 auctioneer Johnna Wells asked if the bidding patrons would all want one at that price. The competing bidders agreed and the result was $20,900 raised for charity.
