Volunteer at the Liver Life Walk

Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with the American Liver Foundation (ALF)! The Liver Life Walk will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Washington Park, which is located at the intersection of Kentucky Ave. and Franklin St. in Denver, Colorado. We're looking forward to another great event with the support of volunteers like you!

Liver Life Walk Volunteer Information

There are many ways to get involved with the American Liver Foundation Liver Life Walk. Whether you're helping us recruit walkers, find sponsors, plan logistics or work the day of the event, volunteering plays a critical role in helping us do more to help liver disease patients across the country. Day-Of Liver Life Walk Volunteer Opportunities - August 10

Volunteer space on the day of the Liver Life Walk is limited so please register early if you are interested! When you register, you will be asked to select your top two volunteer positions from the list below. Prior to the event, all registered volunteers will receive a confirmation email with volunteer assignment and additional event information. Registration & Food Tent (7:45 am -1:00 pm)
Volunteers will greet and check-in all walk participants as they arrive, accept pledges, distribute t-shirts and answer any questions. REGISTRATION TRAINING WILL TAKE PLACE PROMPTLY AT 8:00 AM – All Registration Volunteers MUST be present for this training. Volunteers will also convert the Registration Tent into Food Tent and prepare snacks for participants. Volunteers will provide finish line support and cheer for walkers as they cross the finish line. Volunteers will assist with tear-down and clean-up of Food Tent/Finish Line area.

Water Distribution (8:45 am -1:00 pm)
Volunteers will set up Water Distribution Station and fill/provide cups of water to participants as they pass the station. Volunteers must balance between pouring cups of water soon enough in advance to be prepared for the walkers and not pouring too soon to avoid wasting water. Volunteers will clean up Water Distribution Station area upon notification from walk headquarters that all walkers have passed through.

ALF Information Table (8:30 am -1:00 pm)
Volunteers will set up the ALF Information Table and be available to answer questions and inform participants about the work of the American Liver Foundation. Volunteers will be provided with all necessary supplies to set up the table, including an interactive activity/game. Volunteers will assist with Information Table tear-down & clean-up following closing ceremony.

Walk Route Marshall (8:30 am -1:00 pm)
Volunteers will be stationed throughout the course of the Walk with a 2-Way Radio. Walk Route Marshalls will be the “eyes” out on the course and will direct participants, alert ALF to any problems, assess and report back estimated times for completion of walk. A chair will be provided for each Walk Route Marshal

Set-up & Runner (7:00 am -1:00 pm)
Flexibility is an integral part of this position. Volunteers will assist ALF staff and event committee co-chairs with event set-up, tear-down and various other tasks as necessary throughout the event. Runner volunteers must also attend Registration Training at 8:00 am to be available to step in to assist with Registration if needed.


Pre-Event Liver Life Walk Volunteer Opportunities

Event Planning Committee Member
Help the ALF raise funds for the 30 million Americans affected by liver disease by joining one of our Liver Life Walk planning committees! Committee members will assist with the overall planning of the Liver Life Walk, including walker recruitment, promotions, donation procurement, logistics and more!

Event Prep Office Work
We are working on event preparations for our Liver Life Walk event and could use your help with small office tasks and fun projects, such as preparing invitation mailings, making walker follow-up phone calls, creating event signage and more! We have office opportunities Monday – Friday, 9:30am-5:00pm. Please come join us at the American Liver Foundation office at 2100 S. Corona, Denver, CO. Whatever time you can commit to is greatly appreciated!

Liver Life Walk Kick-Off Party on June 17, 2008
Volunteers will assist the ALF staff and event committee co-chairs with kick-off event set-up, tear-down and various other tasks as necessary throughout the event.
