Neal Shimoda, MD Named One of Honolulu's Best Doctors

Father and son team makes Honolulu Magazine's annual list

Hawaii is blessed with good doctors, and Dr. Neal Shimoda, who serves on our Medical Advisory Committee, was recently named one of the best doctors in the Islands and was featured in Honolulu Magazine with his father, Dr. Stanley Shimoda. Both are gastroenterologists.

Dr. Neal Shimoda, of Kuakini Medical Plaza, encourages all people age 50 and above to have a colonoscopy to screen for colon polyps or cancer, especially since there is a higher incidence of these conditions among Asians. He urged that people have a colonoscopy even earlier if there is a family member who has had colon polyps or cancer.

A research firm surveys doctors nationwide, starting with a simple question: "If you or a loved one needed a doctor in your specialty, to whom would you refer them?" Best Doctors then spends two years on further surveying and vetting the doctors identified in the initial survey.

Congratulations to Drs. Neal and Stanley Shimoda and mahalo for your continued support of the American Liver Foundation, Hawai'i Chapter!
