A mentor is someone whose hindsight can become your foresight.
The Wisconsin Liver Mentoring Program
President Bush proclaimed January to be National Mentoring Month saying “I call upon the people of the United States to recognize the importance of mentoring, to look for opportunities to serve as mentors in their communities…”
The Wisconsin Chapter of the American Liver Foundation would like to expand on this important initiative to help those in our liver community by starting a mentoring program for those affected by liver disease and liver transplant.
We would like those who have been touched by liver disease to help those who are newly diagnosed or that are pre- and post-transplant.
Only you know the feelings, the ups and downs of treatment, and how your heart drops when you hear your child has been diagnosed with liver disease, or when you hear that same diagnosis for yourself. -- "How do I take care of my family?"; "What are we going to do?" You know the questions that are foremost in your mind of why, how and what do we do now?
Join us as a Liver Mentor and help those who you know need your support and guidance as they go through the emotional trauma of coping with liver disease. Call the Wisconsin Chapter office at (414)961-4936 or email us at infowi@liverfoundation.org to enter the mentoring program
