The American Liver Foundation is making national news on topics including liver wellness, disease prevention, screening and treatment. Here are some highlights:

The New York Times

Hillel Tobias, MD, PhD, co-chair of ALF’s national medical advisory committee and a member of the national board of directors, discussed the progress in hepatitis treatment in the February 24, 2014 edition of The New York Times, Personal Health column of the Science Times section. The article also profiled his patient, who is responding dramatically to new treatments, as well as another ALF patient advocate who shared his experiences. Dr. Tobias is a clinical professor in the Department of Gastroenterology at NYU Langone Medical Center.

Nikolaos Pyrsopolous, MD, chief of gastroenterology and hepatology and medical director of liver transplantation at Rutgers University, dispelled the myths and provided the facts about the public’s risk for liver disease, including viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease and cirrhosis. The segment airs on foxnews.com. Dr. Pyrsopolous is a member of ALF’s Greater New York Division medical advisory committee.

Huffington Post - Canada

Nancy Reau, MD, co-chair of ALF’s national medical advisory committee and a member of the national board of directors, offered New Year’s tips on how to keep your liver healthy. Dr. Reau is an associate professor of medicine at the University of Chicago.
