Join in our Upcoming Liver Life Walks and Flavors Events

Two of the American Liver Foundation’s signature programs—vitally important educational and fundraising vehicles—include the “Liver Life Walk” and “Flavors.” Funding from these events supports medical research, public education, patient support services and advocacy.

Here’s a quick update as how you can participate in upcoming walks and Flavors events in various parts of the country.

Liver Life Walk 2013

Shoulder high at the Liver Life Walk Philadelphia on May 11: Members of Wayne’s Warriors, a team that walked in loving memory of Wayne Duvall. The Walk was organized by the American Liver Foundation’s Mid-Atlantic Division.

Each year, thousands of people take part in our Liver Life Walk events, promoting our mission in local communities across the nation.

While the subject of liver disease is certainly serious—for instance, many people walk to honor their loved ones—the walks give teams and individuals an opportunity to be outdoors, get exercise and even have some fun.

In May and June, Liver Life Walks took place in 13 communities, from the west coast to the east coast, and many locations in between.

The good news is that other Liver Life Walks are still scheduled to take place through September.

Upcoming Liver Life Walks in 2013: St. Louis, MO, July 13: Cricket Field in Forest Park; Milwaukee, WI, July 27: Veteran's Park; Denver, CO, August 4: City Park Pavilion; Twin Cities, MN, September 21: Lake Rebecca Park; Hartford, CT, September 22: 615 Silver Ln, East Hartford; Los Angeles, CA, September 22: Ocean View Park; San Francisco, CA, September 22: Music Concourse, Golden Gate Park; Nashville, TN, September 28: Edwin Warren Park; Stamford, CT, September 29: 100 Washington Blvd.

Flavors 2013

Flavors of Los Angeles on May 5 at The Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel: Flavors Chefs with Liver Champion Christopher Hegardt, a liver transplant recipient (center, front row). Next to Christopher are Phillip Frankland Lee (on the left) and Mirko Paderno. < >Back row (from left): Anthony Zappola, Collin Crannell, Nyesha Arrington, Jessica Koine, Sophie Gayot, Wonny Lee, Tim Kast, Mathew Woolf, David Iino, Tony Magnemi and Taly Fantini, the executive director of the American Liver Foundation Greater Los Angeles.

The Flavors events are among the most anticipated American Liver Foundation events each year.

Going far beyond the expectations of regular galas, Flavors feature master chefs preparing and serving up their exclusive multi-course recipes at each table!

That’s why we describe these unique evenings as “A Culinary Experience” famous for its gourmet food and wine.

The typical Flavors evening includes a cocktail reception, a live and/or silent auction to raise funds for the American Liver Foundation’s mission, and then the unforgettable dinner.

We also often recognize dedicated advocates of our cause and organization.

Nine Flavors were held so far this year. But if your taste buds are ready, other Flavors events resume in late August and continue throughout September:

Upcoming Flavors in 2013: Orange County, CA, August 25: Fairmont Newport Beach; San Diego, CA, September 9: The Grand Del Mar; Denver, CO, September 10: Wings Over the Rockies, Air & Space Museum; Pittsburgh, PA, September 15: The Westin Convention Center; Houston, TX, September 18: Hilton Houston Post Oak; Boston, MA, September 20: Seaport Hotel & World Trade Center; Chicago, IL, September 23: Galleria Marchetti; Northeast Ohio, September 23: Embassy Suites; Tucson, AZ, September 26: Loews Ventana Canyon Resort.
