T. CLARK GAMBLIN
Board Chairman

I hope you enjoyed a wonderful holiday season and are looking forward to 2013 as much as I am. I am very honored to have begun my term as Chair of our Board this last year. I want to thank each of you for your dedication and service to the American Liver Foundation as we work to increase awareness by community engagement and education as well as strive to dramatically impact liver disease.

Our year promises to be an outstanding one with our Academic Debates on March 12th hosted in Madison where authorities in the field will discuss hot topics and issues regarding hepatitis and liver cancer. This event has been a huge success in the Chicago area and I am confident it will be outstanding for our region. Later in the year, Flavors of Wisconsin (April 21st) will occur at the Pfister Hotel. This event is a true showcase to the community of the ALF and has been a cornerstone for successful fundraising. Many individuals remember their first exposure to our organization was the Flavors event. I encourage you to involve those around you in the night as there are needs with every aspect from check in to post event follow-up. Finally, we are thrilled to build on last year’s successful Liver Walk. We were pleased to have had record attendance and fundraising and are convince this is just the beginning.

In addition to these three events, we are reorganizing the Medical Advisory Committee and its guidance to direct education in our community. We have far too many other endeavors to list them all in this short note but suffice to say the ALF is busy at work. Our success is a credit to your dedication and generosity.

Lastly, I cannot think of two harder working people than Dee Ann Girard and Christina Seitz. Our organization is so very fortunate to have them lead us into the New Year. I am indebted to them for their dedication, perseverance and wonderful disposition. I know I speak for them when I say “We appreciate you and cannot wait to see you in 2013 – Happy New Year”.

Sincerely,

T. Clark Gamblin, MD, MS
