Student Research Award
Application Deadline: June 4, 2008, 5 p.m. Eastern
Recipient Notification: August 2008
Meeting Dates: October 31 – November 4, 2008
Meeting Location: San Francisco, CA
This $500 award is given to a student who made a major contribution to the research study highlighted in their abstract submitted to The Liver Meeting®.
Young Investigator Travel Awards
Application Deadline: June 4, 2008, 5 p.m. Eastern
Recipient Notification: August 2008
Meeting Dates: October 31 – November 4, 2008
Meeting Location: San Francisco, CA
These $500 travel awards enable young researchers submitting abstracts for the AASLD Research Workshop to receive travel support to attend the Workshop held during The Liver Meeting®.
Single Topic Conference Travel Awards
These $500 travel awards fund travel costs for trainees in the field of hepatology with a special interest in the conference topic to present their accepted abstract on related research. Visit www.aasld.org for application deadlines, meeting dates and locations.
Jan Albrecht Commitment to Clinical Research in Liver Diseases Award

A two-year award of $75,000 per year that fosters career development for individuals performing clinical research and/or translational research in a liver-related area and who have shown commitment to excellence at an early stage of their research study.

Sheila Sherlock Clinical and Translational Research Awards in Liver Diseases

Career Development Award in Liver Transplantation

A two-year award of $45,000 per year that fosters career development for individuals performing clinical and/or translational research in the field of liver transplantation and who have shown commitment to excellence in the field at an early stage of their career.

Advanced/Transplant Hepatology Fellowship Program

Award Start Date: July 1, 2008
This one-year award of $60,000 provides salary and benefit support for gastroenterology fellows pursuing an additional full year of training focused on patient care in advanced/transplant hepatology. The intent of the training program is to prepare the trainee to be eligible for certification in transplant hepatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).

NP/PA Clinical Hepatology Fellowship Program

Award Start Date: July 1, 2008
This one-year award of $78,000 provides salary and benefit support for certified and licensed physician assistants (PA) or nurse practitioners (NP) pursuing a full year of training focused on clinical care in hepatology and is designed to increase the number of mid-level practitioners in clinical hepatology; facilitate the transition (or shift in emphasis) into clinical hepatology for mid-level practitioners; and to increase access for liver disease patients to adequately adjust trained clinicians.
