Support groups provide a place for individuals affected by a similar condition or circumstance to provide and receive support and share their experiences.

Not all support groups are facilitated by an American Liver Foundation volunteer. Some support groups are facilitated by 3rd party organizations and individuals in this region.

ARK (Always Reflecting Kindness)

Meets: Third Saturday of each month (except January, February, and December) 12:00 noon

ARK meetings allow Hepatitis C sufferers to learn how to live with their disease. Attendees are welcome to express how they feel in the company of other sufferers and their loved ones. Each meeting features a selected speaker on a pertinent topic. Lunch is provided.

Meets: 3rd Thursday of each month, 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.

This group is a monthly meeting of patients, families, and caregivers at any stage pre- and post-transplant. The group meets for education, emotional support and information exchange related to organ transplant. Meetings are facilitated by the staff psychologist and/or social worker to help provide information on:

  • Learning about the transplant process
  • The personal adjustment experience for patients
  • Coping needs of caregivers
  • Stress-management strategies for patients and their families

The meetings are free, and no registration is required. All families and patients who have/anticipate any type of organ transplant are encouraged to attend.

The Jewish Hospital Organ Transplant Support Group meets the 2nd Monday of each month. The meetings are held at Jewish Hospital on the 3rd floor in the transplant center conference room.

This support group is open to all liver transplant patients who are listed or who are post-transplant. Patients from all area hospitals are welcome. All meetings include an expert speaker on a relevant topic. Call for speaker topics and details.
