Love Your Liver Youth Education Program, is a 45 minute interactive presentation on liver health and wellness with activities and games appropriate for the elementary through high school setting.

This group is a monthly meeting of patients, families, and caregivers at any stage pre- and post-transplant. The group meets for education, emotional support and information exchange related to organ transplant. Meetings are facilitated by the staff psychologist and/or social worker to help provide information on:

  • Learning about the transplant process
  • The personal adjustment experience for patients
  • Coping needs of caregivers
  • Stress-management strategies for patients and their families

The meetings are free, and no registration is required. All families and patients who have/anticipate any type of organ transplant are encouraged to attend.

Meets: 3-5 pm. dates listed below:

Parents and their children with biliary atresia, liver transplants, metabolic liver disease, hepatitis B and C, Alagille's syndrome, and other liver diseases attend. An educational topic is discussed for 20 to 30 minutes and then everyone socializes. Refreshments are provided. Discussion topics have included understanding blood tests, diet and liver disease, impact of chronic disease on siblings, liver transplantation, etc.
