A Message from the Division Vice President

Welcome and thank you for visiting our website.

It is our hope to provide education, advocacy, and research to help the liver disease patients, caregivers, medical professionals, and volunteers in our region. Our educatiion programs for patients, their families, and the general public, are taught by our region's most celebrated hepatologists, transplant surgeons, and nurses. We also offer hepatitis and liver disease training sessions for healthcare professionals.

Our community outreach is broad. In 2009, more than 300 individuals attended our educational programs, more than 5,000 students were educated about liver wellness through LOVE YOUR LIVER, our signature youth education program, and an additional 10,000 were served through the distribution of liver health literature.

Our celebrated Medical Leadership is second to none. Our division is host to excellent healthcare as well as fifteen outstanding transplant centers (thirteen adult and four pediatric). We remain grateful to them for developing and presenting our education programs, and thank them for generously donating their time and expertise.

Each year we hold a number of special events to raise critical funds for our education initiatives and advocacy efforts, and to support our nationwide research awards program. Our signature event Flavors of ... is a culinary extravaganza where guests enjoy an up-close-and-personal dining experience with the region's hottest chefs! Our annual black tie events, Medical Honors Gala, recognizes members of our world-renowned medical community and other individuals for their outstanding contributions to the field of liver disease and the American Liver Foundation.

Liver Life Walks held in several of our Division communities provide an opportunity to help the Foundation to gain public awareness while raising the critical funds to support our mission. Additionally, Liver Life Challenge events across the country are an exciting way to participate in obtaining our mission while lending support to the ALF.

We hope you visit our website often to learn more about our program and fundraising events. We are honored to be a part of the fight against liver disease.

Warm regards,

Pam Gleason
