Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Rocky Mountain Division of the American Liver Foundation. Our current volunteer opportunities are listed below and we invite you to contact us for more information! We also invite you to conatct us if you have an idea about a special way that you would like to contribute to our organization that is not listed below. • Office Interns / Nonpaid – 10 Hours Weekly / Ongoing – Currently seeking office interns to help in planning events, managing outreach calendars and public relations for the American Liver Foundation Rocky Mountain Division. This program can be combined with a college class for classroom credit.

• OutReach Volunteer – Ongoing at various locations around Denver and the surrounding suburbs. The OutReach Volunteer will set up information tables about liver wellness and distribute information/brochures to help spread the word about American Liver Foundation Rocky Mountain Division.

Flavors of Denver – Thursday, April 7, 2016 - Various volunteer positions are available from set up during the day, during the event and tear down after the event. • Liver Life Walk – August 7, 2016 – City Park Pavillion / Volunteers are needed to set-up, registration, food booths and water stations. Opportunities begin at 6:30 AM until 12:00 noon.

Community Outreach and Education Coordinator (Part-time)

Primary Functions

The COE Program Coordinator, under the direction of the Division Special Events Manager and with program supervision, will assist with the implementation and delivery of education programs and participate in community health related outreach, education and special events. The Coordinator will learn about various liver diseases and be given opportunities to participate in research activities, grant writing and report writing. The coordinator will also assist in developing promotional pieces about liver wellness and ALF programs.

Through community outreach efforts, this position will build successful and long-term relationships with community-based organizations for the purposes of implementing mission delivery activities and facilitating other opportunities for American Liver Foundation partnership.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conducts multi-media outreach to assess specific prospects’ interest and arrange educational programs in the community

• Will return calls and assist with referrals for support

• Assists with youth and adult community based educational programming

• Assist with implementation of other programs and special events as needed

• Provides administrative support and related duties

• Coordinate outreach activities, such as health fairs, community meetings, lunch and learns, etc. to raise awareness about liver wellness and liver disease

Education, Experience, Related Skills and Knowledge:

• Professional demeanor

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and comfortable with public speaking

• Self-motivated, enthusiastic and committed to excellence of work

• Ability to prioritize and organize activities while working within deadlines and handle a multiple of project simultaneously

• Team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced work environment

• Ability to train, motivate and supervise volunteers and/or interns

• Bachelor’s Degree in Health Promotion and Education, Social Work or other health/social sciences required. Medical knowledge and experience a plus

• At least one year of community program planning, implementation or evaluation experience, or other work directly related to mission delivery with not-for-profit organizations

• Multi Lingual Ability: Spanish language proficiency a plus

• Computer literacy (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Word Environment:

• Valid Driver’s License and willing to drive a personal and/or rented vehicle as needed

• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends. Must be able and willing to lift and move program and/or event related materials weighing up to 25 lbs.

• Ability and willingness to travel the Colorado region including Wyoming occasionally

Other Information

• The coordinator position is part-time: 20 hours a week at $20 per hour

• Position to start Monday, January 18, 2016
