As we embark on the New Year, I would like to take a moment to reflect on this past year.
In 2012, there was huge support for all of our events; Flavors of Wisconsin, Flavors of Twin Cities and our Liver Life Walks in MN and WI. We also had a record-breaking year for attendance and fundraising. We could not have done it without all our volunteers and sponsors, and of course, all of you…THANK YOU SO MUCH!
We were able to educate 250 students with our “Love Your Liver” Youth Education Program, educate over 200 Health-Care Professionals through our “Case Studies and Post AASLD Programs”, attend over a dozen health fairs, and help support more than 50 people who called our office for more information on various types of liver disease.
The MN/WI office also supports four third-party events. These supporters host events that benefit the American Liver Foundation MN/WI Office. (1) “Lest We Forget”, a concert that remembers band members from the Milwaukee area that have been touched by or lost to liver disease, (2) “Cheers for Charity”, a golf outing brought to us by The Golf Club at Camelot and Sprecher Brewery, (3) “The Warrior Day Golf Outing”, an outing which has given over $38,000 since its inception in 2008 and lastly, (4) the Cherry Ride, a motorcycle ride held by a brother in honor of his sister who lost her fight against liver disease in MN.
These four “third party” events raised over $21,000 in support of those affected by liver disease! A BIG THANK YOU to all those who organize these events!
We look forward to continuing our success in 2013 and know with all the support we receive from EVERYONE in Minnesota and Wisconsin, we will once again have a successful year in raising awareness, raising funds and supporting those affected by liver disease.
YOU make the difference. THANK YOU!
Initially organized by a group of dedicated volunteers, the Wisconsin Chapter opened officially in 1997. In 2009 the Chapter was integrated into the Great Lakes Division and became the Wisconsin Office.
The Great Lakes Division, Wisconsin Office strives to educate the state on the more than 100 liver diseases that affect over 500,000 of our citizens. We continue to this day to support those affected, educate those who are at risk, and share information so more of our great Wisconsinites understand the true face of liver disease!
